Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Kivu, Gisenyi Province
You will be picked up by our company representative from either a hotel in Kigali/ Kigali International Airport in the morning (8:00AM) for a transfer to Lake Kivu, Gisenyi (Rwanda’s largest fresh water lake). Driving south west wards, with en route stop over at the Murambi Genocide memorial site, Nyanza and Butare King’s palace. Later arrive at the Lake Kivu shores in the evening just in time for dinner and Overnight.at Lake Kivu Serena hotel (Luxury) / Palm gardens resort (Deluxe) / Paradise Marahide (Budget)
Day 2: Hike to the Top of Mt Nyiragongo
Upon waking up; have breakfast and hit the road to Goma, Congo and head straight to the Kibatsi village to start off with the Nyiragongo hike. It quite a tough hike; not for the light hearted and it takes an entire day getting to the top of the Crater Lake. Once here, enjoy the beautiful scenic views and the active lava lake. Dinner and overnight at Mount Nyiragongo cottages.
Day 3: Descend the Nyiragongo Mountain
At the crater peak, have breakfast and slope down the Nyiragongo. Once at the base, report at the offices for registration, Dinner and overnight at Ihusi Lodge (Midrange).
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking at Virunga National Park
Rise early, enjoy breakfast and head to the Virunga park offices for the pre- trek briefing on the code of conduct when tracking mountain gorillas. Later, engage in your search for the intriguing creatures and on locating them; expect an hour with them before returning to the starting point, to meet your guide for the drive back to your lodge. Have lunch and later, take a visit to the neighboring villages.
Dinner and overnight stay at Ihusi Lodge (Midrange)
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi; for birding experience! Here you will enjoy various activities like birding, canoe ride to some of the islands, and fishing among others. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi overland Camp.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Launch Cruise
Have breakfast and set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park, found in Kasese district. En route, take in the beautiful scenery views of the country side; reaching just in time for lunch. After lunch, engage in an afternoon launch cruise along the Kazinga channel for a diversified views of aquatic wildlife species and birds as they all get downstream to bathe and drink from the river. Among the wildlife expect to view the large herds of hippopotami, crocodiles, elephants and buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, orbis. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge (luxury), Park View Lodge (Midrange), Eganzi Lodge / Simba Safari Lodge (Budget)
Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Departure
Rise early for by 5:30 AM set out for an exclusive morning game drive through the kasenyi park area watching out for; elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs among others.
Return to your lodge midmorning, have lunch and later hit the road for your drive to Entebbe International Airport for departure flight.
